On arrival at Keflavik International airport, you will meet our representatives and they will transfer you to your hotel in the Capital Reykjavik. Your 3* Hotel will be within easy reach of the cities attractions and have facilities like Satellite TV. All rooms have a private en-suite bathroom and breakfast is served each morning. After check-in the rest of the day is free for you to start discover beautiful Reykjavik.
For many, seeing the Northern Lights is the reason to travel to our northern island in winter. They are mesmerising, and a sight that will not be forgotten. It is simple, nothing says “Icelandic Winter” like the idea of hunting for the Aurora Borealis. Created by solar storms originating from the sun, the Northern Lights need clear winter skies to be seen.
Our expert operational team has decades of experience analysing weather patterns. We will review, each and everyday, the cloud forecast and the northern lights forecast in detail. We will not venture out in search of them unless we think we have good chance. This means we have a high success ratio.
All our northern lights tours are guided by one of our specially trained northern lights guides, they are both knowledgeable and helpful and will even give you tips on how to take photos of the night sky and of aurora. We offer free use of camera tripods (a must to take northern lights photos), we only have a few so if you own a tripod be sure to bring it along.
Depending on your flight arrival time, we will book your Northern Lights on your first nights. If that’s not possible then we will book it for your second night.
On Day 2 Visit a unique and remote man-made Ice Cave in Langjökull, one of Iceland's largest and most spectacular glaciers.
After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and we will leave Reykjavik behind and drive to the lush Húsafell area with stops at Europe's most powerful hot spring Deildartunguhver and the beautiful Hraunfossar lava waterfalls.
After a lunch break in Húsafell, we head on up to Langjökull, partly in a specially modified glacier vehicle. It will take us almost to the top of the glacier, where we enter the magnificent cave.
Before you realize you find yourself standing on top of a vast ice-cap, ready to enter the glacier and explore its icy underworld. The glacier guide will take you on an amazing journey, deep within the glacier where you can see the stunning blue-hued ice.
Going into the glacier is an unforgettable trip which takes place in one of the world's greatest wilderness. Imagine standing on an ice cap reaching 200 metres below your feet! We then head back down and back onto the coach for our journey back to Reykjavik.
Day 3 We will pick you up again after breakfast and head down the south coast. This is the perfect tour for those seeking a bit of an extra thrill while ticking off some of Iceland’s must sees. The tour offers a fun, scenic and comfortably challenging snowmobiling ride. It is a great way to explore and experiencing the wilderness and get in touch with the glacier. The tour starts with a drive through the Hellisheiði mountain pass bringing you through moss covered lava fields and past geothermal springs down to farmland along the beautiful southern coastline. The first stop on the way starts with a snowmobile ride to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, close to the volcano Katla caldera. The scenery there can be quite intense, with Eyjafjallajökull glacier watching over us from the west and the breath-taking view over the South coast of Iceland.
Once you arrive at Solheimajökull the Team will bring you to their base, where you will get all the necessary gear needed for snowmobiling on the glacier. After a short briefing, you ride up to the mountain with the glacier truck to the locations of the snowmobiles and the base of Mýrdalsjökull. You will have plenty of opportunity to photograph and film scenery and the beautiful landscape.
Along the return trip to Reykjavik, we will stop at the powerful 65 meter tall Skógafoss Waterfall where a short walk up a flight of steps will reveal one of Iceland´s most scenic views of glaciers, volcanoes and black sandy beaches. With viewpoints both above and directly next to the waterfall, photographers will have plenty of chances to capture that unique shot.
The Seljalandsfoss waterfall is for many guests the highlight of this trip, as you can walk along and behind this waterfall offering a completely unique perspective; just be sure to bring a rain jacket! From here we return to Reykjavik.
The next day after check out from the hotel we transfer you back to the airport to catch your flight back to the UK. If you’re staying longer the day is yours to explore the city or why not book another tour, maybe after 2 action packed long days a rewarding soak in the Blue Lagoon or the Sky Lagoon could be just the thing.
Prices are based on 2 sharing and are based on London departures but we can offer this tour from the regional airports that serve Iceland. We can also offer this deal staying in your hotel of choice and upgrade to a 4* or we can offer apartments if you prefer. Please enquire.
