On Day 2 We explore the Golden Circle and then drive a snowmobile on the second biggest glacier in Iceland. The Golden Circle Classic is the bestselling day tour! Follow in the footsteps of the Vikings of old as you walk down into the rift valley where the American and Eurasian continental plates are literally pulling apart at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of the oldest existing parliament. Witness the steaming geothermal springs as the ground trembles and hot water spouts spectacularly skywards from the famous Strokkur Geyser at home of the one-and-only original geyser and Iceland's most iconic natural attraction. Experience the magnificence and power of Gullfoss Waterfall, a set of glacial river cascades falling 32 meters into a narrow canyon with a thunderous roar.

Where the central highlands start, with their uninhabited pristine nature, you will board one of our custom-made Super Trucks that´s capable of driving across rough snowy terrain thanks to its enormous tires. The drive to the snowmobile base camp at the foot of the Langjökull Glacier is a unique Arctic highland experience and the snowmobile tour that follows is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Ride across the eternally frozen snow and ice fields of one of the bigger glaciers in the world on a guided snowmobile tour, exploring one of the last true wilderness areas in Europe and indeed the world.

Þingvellir National Park

Located on the northern shores of Þingvallavatn, Iceland's largest lake, Þingvellir is the national pride of Iceland and our first National Park. It is, for one, a key location in Icelandic history as the oldest existing parliament in the world first assembled there in 930 AD. For this reason, Þingvellir has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is, therefore, a protected national park due to its unique geology and natural features. From the viewing area the Almannagjá canyon between two tectonic plates can be seen, a visual representation of continental drift.

Geysir Hot Springs

A favourite stop along the Golden Circle is the highly active Geysir Hot Spring Area with boiling mud pits and the lively Strokkur which spouts water 30 meters into the air every few minutes. The area became active more than 1000 years ago and comprises more than a dozen hot pring holes. Although one can only see steam emerging from the surface of Geysir these days, its name was adopted to represent spouting hot springs all over the world. Along the tour, the newly opened Geysir Center offers guests a chance to use the restroom and to catch some refreshments as well as lunch.

Snowmobile Tour

After arriving at Gullfoss, you will be driven up to Langjökull glacier by the Mountaineers of Iceland in their large off-road vehicle. Upon arriving at their base camp, you will be fully outfitted receive the appropriate equipment, such as helmets, overalls, overshoes, gloves and a hat so that you can fully enjoy the snowmobile ride on the vast wintery snow-scape. After the snowmobiling tour and you head back to Gullfoss Waterfall where you will then have plenty of time to walk down and enjoy the views of one of Iceland's largest waterfalls.

Gullfoss Waterfall

As one of the most popular attractions in all of Iceland, Gullfoss is a waterfall located in the Canyon of the Hvítá River in the southwest of the country. The beautiful Hvítá river rushes southward in three steps into a narrow canyon with a breath-taking roar and grandeur. Furthermore, on clear days the magnificent Langjökull glacier, Iceland's second largest glacier, can be seen in the distance. Guests and Travelers may use the restroom and purchase food and refreshments at this location as well.

Day 3 and we visit the south-coast of Iceland and go hiking on a glacier then visit the incredible waterfalls of Skógar and Seljalandsfoss on one of the most-do day tours from Reykjavík. The tour starts with a drive through the Hellisheiði mountain pass bringing you through moss covered lava fields and past geothermal springs down to farmland along the beautiful southern coastline. First stop will be the rugged Sólheimajökull Glacier. Sólheimajökull is an outlet glacier that flows from main ice-cap of Mýrdalsjökull where the mighty Katla Volcano rests. You will walk on the glacier, wearing special crampons on your shoes and explore the amazing cracks; crevasses and ice expertly lead by a certified glacier guide.

Along the way we pass by fertile farming lands and pass by small villages seated at the bases of infamous Eyjafjallajökull & Hekla Volcanoes dwell with their all-powerful presence. On clear days you will also have a great view of the Westman Islands where the renowned volcanoes lie, which caused the islander’s great troubles in the 1970’s.

The Solheim Glacier is a magnificent and humbling site to behold, it is a glacial tongue extension of the Myrdalsjökull glacier. When we arrive there, you will be outfitted by the Guides with all the necessary equipment for hiking and exploring the cracks and crevasses of the glacier.

Along the return trip to Reykjavik, we will stop at the powerful 65 meter tall Skógafoss Waterfall where a short walk up a flight of steps will reveal one of Iceland´s most scenic views of glaciers, volcanoes and black sandy beaches. With viewpoints both above and directly next to the waterfall, photographers will have plenty of chances to capture that unique shot.

The Seljalandsfoss waterfall is for many guests the highlight of this trip, as you can walk along this waterfall offering a completely unique perspective!
