Visit erupting geysers in the great Geysir hot spring area and pay a visit to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site. Enjoy Vatnajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and many other unique places such as the south coast of Iceland with its natural wonders; black lava beaches, waterfalls and glaciers, the Skaftafell National Park, the Reykjanes peninsula and the famous Blue Lagoon.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ICELAND

Arrival in Iceland and collect your hire car before heading to the capital Reykjavik. If the times allows go for a walk to explore Reykjavík and stay the night in a 3 or 4* Hotel.

Day 2: GEYSIR HOT SPRING AREA AND GULLFOSS WATERFALL

Take the so-'called golden circle route southwards. The route will lead you through Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site, the golden waterfall, Gullfoss and the Geysir hot spring area in Haukadalur before ending up at your 3* hotel for two nights, the Fosshotel Hekla or similar.

Day 3: ÞJÓRSÁRDALUR Explore Þjórsárdalur valley and its stunning waterfall Hjalpafoss as well as the viking ruins of Stöng. Enjoy the oasis Gjáin with its green surroundings and the exhilarant waterfalls.

Day 4: ICELANDS SOUTH COAST

Travel along the southern coast of Iceland on the main road. Stop at the waterfall Seljalandsfoss at the edge of the world’s famous glacier Eyjafjallajökull. Walk behind a waterfall before stopping in Vík to take a walk on the endless black sand beach. While driving be impressed with the view to the mighty Vatnajökull glacier and you’ll spend three nights in one of the hotels in this region.

Day 5: VATNAJÖKULL GLACIER

Spend the entire day enjoying Vatnajökull glacier and the national park of Skaftafell where you can find marked paths suitable for hiking. You can also book an optional guided glacier hike tour.

Day 6: THE JÖKULSÁRLÓN GLACIER LAGOON AND THE PUFFIN

Take the day and go to Ingólfshöfði cape where you might catch a glimpse of the infamous puffin. Afterwards, head to Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and maybe book a guided boat trip on the lagoon. Heading back, stop at Brunnhóll and try some of that famous glacier ice cream.

Day 7: SKOGARFOSS AND THE FOLK MUSEUM

Drive along the scenic south coast back to Reykjavík, where you will spend your last night in a 3 or 4* hotel. On your way stop at Skógar and visit the popular folk museum and see the majestic Skógarfoss waterfall.

Day 8: DEPART FOR HOME

If time allows: Enjoy Reykjavík, or explore the Reykjanes Peninsula with a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon for relaxation before returning your hire car and catching your flight home.
