Cruise Overview

Cruising from the Naval City of Portsmouth, your first full day on the cruise is spent at sea, allowing you time to get to know the Star Attraction and all she has to offer. The first port of call is at Newhaven where you can visit Edinburgh and stroll along the medieval Royal Mile to the Palace of Holyroodhouse to see the abbey and Queen Mary's chambers.

Next, you will call in at Invergordon for Inverness, which is a city in the glorious Scottish Highlands. Onwards to the small village of Ulvik the next afternoon where you will find forest-carpeted mountains rising on either side of the serene Ulvikafjorden as waterfalls ripple down the glacier-carved landscape and farms dot the surrounding countryside.

Staying in Norway, you will call in on Bergen, this lovely and charming Norwegian city is nestled between seven mountains, seven fjords and the North Sea. The Norwegian King resided here, and many historical events took place in this busy port. These events come alive when you amble down the old streets of Bryggen, past picturesque, wooden buildings and the Romanesque-style St. Mary's church. Then it is on to Alesund which is one of Norway's most beautiful towns, renowned for its Jugend-style architecture and art nouveau style. There are scenic views of fjords and the Sunnmore Alps from Alesund, the fishing capital of Norway.

The following day is Lerwick, the capital of Scotland's Shetland Islands and a vibrant and energetic city coloured by grand Victorian houses and the region's namesake ponies. Leaving Scotland, you cruise overnight to Torshavn in the Faroe Islands. This colourful capital city of the Faroe Islands on the island of Steymoy features a panoply of Nordic landscapes, with fjords, straits, deep green valleys, and a wonderful harbour dotted with colourful boats.

You then arrive in Iceland where the first port of call is Djupivogur. Nestled in between the two fjords, Hamarsfjörður and Berufjörður, you'll find the remote little town of Djúpivogur. Captivating, as it is quant, this humble fishing village is home to breath taking scenery that moves from gently sweeping beaches to jagged cliffs and Búlandstindur, the iconic pyramid-shaped mountain. Savour incredible seafood, have drinks with locals and shop traditional handcrafts you can't find anywhere else in the world.

The Northern city of Akureyri is next, nestled along the shores of one of the most breath taking fjords in Iceland, Akureyri is the nation's second largest urban area and a centre of Icelandic folk culture. Visit the museums, hike along the extraordinary vistas or explore the botanical gardens. After you've worked up an appetite, feast on some Nordic specialities like smoked lamb and fresh fish and then indulge in an Icelandic fried pastry.

Your final port of call before finishing your cruise in the capital is Isafjordur, the largest town in Iceland's remote Westfjords's region, Ísafjörður is a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts. Boasting an enchanting fjord ideal for watersports and a mountainous landscape brimming with opportunities for hiking, biking and horseback riding.

Your cruise finishes the next morning but your holiday isn’t over. There's a good reason that Iceland is considered a photographer's dream destination. Its terrain is visually stunning, offering views of lava flows, hot springs, unspoiled nature - and colourful, fascinating cities like Reykjavik. The world's most northerly capital brings together quaint villages, exciting museums, a flourishing music scene and restaurants that rival Europe's finest.

You’ll spent two nights on a Bed & Breakfast basis and have ample time on your first day to explore everything Reykjavik has to offer before you join us on a tour of Iceland’s famous Golden Circle, which finishes with time to bathe in the soothing warm waters of the famous Blue Lagoon.
