Iceland Winter Escape: Reykjavik, Blue Lagoon, Golden Circle and the Northern Lights
Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik
As soon as you arrive at Keflavik International Airport, one of our friendly representatives will be there to meet you and transfer you to your hotel in the heart of Reykjavik, Iceland’s vibrant capital. Your stay will be in a comfortable 3-star hotel, located within easy reach of the city’s main sights. Each room comes with an en-suite bathroom, satellite TV, and breakfast served every morning to help you start the day right.
Once you've checked in, the rest of the day is yours. Take some time to relax or begin exploring the city at your own pace—whether that’s strolling along the waterfront, visiting a local café, or checking out Reykjavik’s famous street art and shops.
Day 2: The Blue Lagoon and Northern Lights Tour
Today, we take you to one of Iceland’s most iconic destinations—the Blue Lagoon. Known as one of the wonders of the world, this geothermal spa is a must-do experience. Surrounded by moss-covered lava fields, the Blue Lagoon offers a striking setting and a truly relaxing atmosphere.
With your Comfort Package, you’ll enjoy full access to the lagoon, a silica mud mask, towel use, and a drink of your choice. The warm, mineral-rich waters are known for their rejuvenating effects, leaving your skin soft and refreshed. After your soak, you’ll return to Reykjavik with time to relax before the evening's adventure.
Later that evening, you’ll be picked up from your hotel for a Northern Lights tour. Your English-speaking guide will take you out of the city, away from light pollution, to the best possible location for viewing the Aurora Borealis. Using the latest forecasts and local expertise, the team will choose the evening’s route based on where the skies are clearest.
The Northern Lights, created by solar particles interacting with the Earth’s atmosphere, are a spectacular and unforgettable natural phenomenon. Please note that sightings are dependent on weather and solar activity, and while they can’t be guaranteed, if you don’t see the lights on your first night, you're welcome to join the tour again free of charge on another night.
Day 3: Golden Circle and the Secret Lagoon
Today you’ll set off on one of the most popular routes in Iceland—the Golden Circle, combined with a relaxing visit to the Secret Lagoon.
Þingvellir National Park
Your first stop is the historic and geological wonder of Þingvellir, Iceland’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is where the world’s oldest parliament was founded in 930 AD. You'll also see the rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet—a dramatic landscape that tells the story of Iceland’s formation.
Geysir Geothermal Area
Next is the Geysir Hot Spring Area, where geothermal activity bubbles just beneath the surface. While the original Geysir now lies mostly dormant, the nearby Strokkur geyser erupts impressively every few minutes, sending hot water high into the air. The Geysir Center nearby offers facilities, refreshments, and a great spot for a light lunch.
Gullfoss Waterfall
One of Iceland’s most famous natural landmarks, Gullfoss, or “Golden Falls,” is a breathtaking waterfall that plunges into a rugged canyon. On clear days, you may even catch a glimpse of the Langjökull glacier in the background.
Secret Lagoon
The final stop of the day is the Secret Lagoon, one of Iceland’s oldest natural geothermal pools. Whether it's snowing, raining, or the sun is shining, the water stays at a soothing 38–40°C all year round. Surrounded by steaming vents and even a small erupting geyser nearby, it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of sightseeing.
Day 4: Departure or Free Day in Reykjavik
If you're on a 3-night package, after breakfast and check-out, we’ll transfer you back to Keflavik Airport for your flight home.
If you’ve chosen the 4-night package, today is yours to spend as you wish. Use the extra time to explore more of Reykjavik, visit museums, enjoy local cuisine, or ask us about adding one of our other fantastic day tours—like glacier hiking, ice cave exploring, or snowmobiling on a glacier.
Good to Know:
- Prices are based on two people sharing, with departures from London.
- We also offer flights from regional UK airports that fly to Iceland.
- Want to tailor your stay? Let us know if you’d prefer a 4-star hotel, a central apartment, or if you'd like to extend your stay with additional nights or tours.
Whether you’re chasing the Northern Lights, relaxing in geothermal spas, or marvelling at waterfalls and geysers, this is the perfect introduction to Iceland’s winter magic.
