Northern Lights Break – Reykjavik & Small Group Aurora Tour
Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik
On arrival at Keflavik International Airport, you will be met by our representatives and transferred to your hotel in Reykjavik, Iceland’s charming and vibrant capital city. You will stay in a quality 4-star hotel located within easy reach of the city's main attractions. The hotel offers comfortable, well-appointed rooms with satellite TV, private en-suite bathrooms, and daily breakfast included.
After check-in, the rest of the day is yours to relax or begin exploring the city at your own pace. Stroll through the Old Harbour, visit Hallgrímskirkja Church, or enjoy one of Reykjavik’s many cafés and restaurants.
Day 2: Free Day in Reykjavik & Northern Lights Evening Tour
Spend the day discovering Reykjavik’s cultural and natural highlights. Whether you choose to visit one of its many museums, take a walk by the waterfront, or simply relax in a thermal pool, the city offers a mix of modern life and natural beauty.
In the evening, you will be picked up from your hotel for your Northern Lights Small Group Tour. Travelling in a smaller group means more time with your guide, personal attention, and a more comfortable experience overall.
The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, are caused by solar particles colliding with the earth’s upper atmosphere near the magnetic poles. In Iceland, they are typically visible from late August to April, and can appear in various forms and colours—though shades of green and pink are most common.
Our expert team carefully analyses the weather and aurora forecasts each day to determine the best location for potential sightings. While the lights can sometimes be seen from Reykjavik, we will take you away from the city lights for a clearer and more spectacular view. Your guide will also be on hand to assist with photography tips and to share fascinating facts about this natural phenomenon.
Please note that sightings of the Northern Lights cannot be guaranteed as they are a natural occurrence. However, if the lights are not seen on your tour, you are welcome to join the tour again free of charge on another night during your stay. The maximum group size is limited to 25 guests for a more personalised experience.
Day 3: Free Day in Reykjavik
Today is free for you to enjoy Reykjavik at your leisure. Whether you prefer to take a relaxing walk through town, visit one of the city’s many art galleries, explore local shops and boutiques, or sample the Icelandic cuisine, there is plenty to enjoy.
If you would like to explore further afield, we are happy to help you arrange optional tours, such as a visit to the Blue Lagoon, a Golden Circle day tour, or a glacier adventure.
Day 4: Departure Day
After breakfast, check out from your hotel. You will be transferred back to Keflavik Airport in time for your return flight to the UK.
