The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland's most famous tourist attractions and considered by many to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as well as an unmissable part of any visit to Iceland.

The Blue Lagoon is surrounded by a mossy lava field, offering incredible scenery, with state of the art facilities, a unique atmosphere and silica masks and water that make your skin extra firm, yet incredibly soft! For these reasons and many more, visitors from all over the world visit the Blue Lagoon daily, and many return here again and again.

For the Blue Lagoon you have the Comfort Package and you will receive entrance to the Blue Lagoon, silica mud mask, use of a towel, and a drink of your choice.

After having enjoyed all that the Blue Lagoon has to offer, you return to Reykjavík on one of the new and comfortable coaches, offering you free Wi-Fi. You’re free to spend as much time as you wish at the Blue Lagoon and join one of the regular shuttles back to Reykjavik.

Later that evening you’ll be picked up from your hotel and taken in search of the Northern light. The expert English speaking guide will have done their home work and plotted the best area to see the lights, so you’ll head out of Reykjavik away from the light pollution in search of the dancing lights.

The Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis are a spectacular natural phenomenon, often seen dancing around in fantastic colours across the Icelandic Arctic sky. They are caused by the interaction of particles from the sun with the upper atmosphere near the North Pole. That creates this wonderful light effect, known as the Aurora Borealis.

Of course this tour is depending on weather and sightings are not guaranteed. If you don't see any lights on your tour you are welcome to join the tour again free of charge on the following nights.

The next day you will go on an amazing day tour takes you around the Golden Circle to see three of Iceland’s highlights Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir geothermal area and Thingvellir National Park, before heading to Fontana’s natural steam baths.

Þingvellir National Park

Located on the northern shores of Þingvallavatn, Iceland's largest lake, Þingvellir is the national pride of Iceland and our first National Park. It is, for one, a key location in Icelandic history as the oldest existing parliament in the world first assembled there in 930 AD. For this reason, Þingvellir has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is, therefore, a protected national park due to its unique geology and natural features. From the viewing area the Almannagjá canyon between two tectonic plates can be seen, a visual representation of continental drift.

Geysir Hot Springs

A favourite stop along the Golden Circle is the highly active Geysir Hot Spring Area with boiling mud pits and the lively Strokkur which spouts water 30 meters into the air every few minutes. The area became active more than 1000 years ago and comprises more than a dozen hot spring holes. Although one can only see steam emerging from the surface of Geysir these days, its name was adopted to represent spouting hot springs all over the world. Along the tour, the newly opened Geysir Center offers guests a chance to use the restroom and to catch some refreshments as well as lunch.

Gullfoss Waterfall

As one of the most popular attractions in all of Iceland, Gullfoss is a waterfall located in the Canyon of the Hvítá River in the southwest of the country. The beautiful Hvítá river rushes southward in three steps into a narrow canyon with a breath-taking roar and grandeur. Furthermore, on clear days the magnificent Langjökull glacier, Iceland's second largest glacier, can be seen in the distance.

You’ll then head for Fontana Wellness on the shore of Lake Laugarvatn where the original sauna was built in the 1920s and was little more than a shack with two compartments, built above the hot spring that bubbles and gurgles below the ground. Today, a modern complex welcomes you to relax with various hot tubs and steam baths naturally heated by Icelandic hot springs.

Upon arrival in Fontana you will take a short walk with a local to a nearby natural hot spring which is used as a local natural bakery for the village. You will get to know the methods how to bake a loaf of bread in a hot spring and watch while they dig up a typical Icelandic rye bread which has been slowly baked in the hot spring. Before dipping into the Fontana hot tubs and enjoy the natural steam baths you will be offered to taste the rye bread.

At Fontana you can have drinks while relaxing in the hot spring water and enjoy the spectacular view. Fontana has three steam rooms built over a natural hot spring and a traditional sauna along with four different hot pools. Those more adventurous can take a dip in Laugarvatn Lake and cool down between the steam baths and sauna. The steam temperatures range between 40°C and 50°C depending on the temperature of the hot springs and the weather. The steam rooms create a unique experience since you can smell the hot water boiling underneath the grids in the floor. The traditional sauna has a lower humidity than the steam rooms, but the temperature is higher or between 80°C and 90°C.

The next day we will collect you from your hotel and make the short journey to the new Sky Lagoon, a thermal spa inspired by nature & culture. Immerse yourself in warmth at this Oceanside geothermal lagoon, as the dramatic North Atlantic Ocean stretches out before you. Feel yourself relax and unwind as you take in the dazzling sunsets and moody skies and, if you're lucky, the dancing Northern Lights will put on a stunning show. Then, take your relaxation deeper with the Ritual, a unique seven-step experience.

Connect with Icelandic traditions. Relax your mind, body and soul. Try something new. Step out of your comfort zone. All of these are possible with Sky Lagoon's The Ritual, a truly unique journey that's at the heart of Iceland's newest geothermal experience.

The seven steps of the Ritual will leave you rejuvenated, transformed and connected to the elements

Step 1: Slow down, relax in the lagoon

Breathe in the refreshing ocean air. Float through a breathtaking canyon and take in a view toward Mount Keilir. You gently enter a state of serenity and calm where you feel relaxed and open to what is to come. Take your time!

Step 2: Cool down with the cold plunge

Next comes cold therapy, a deeply traditional step for Icelanders. Wander in the fresh Icelandic air. Or if you’re brave like a Viking, take a dip in the cold pool. It’ll stimulate your immune system, decrease blood flow in your body and tighten skin.

Step 3: Relax with a view in the sauna

After a cold awakening, visit the sauna for 5 to 10 minutes. Allow the heat to open your pores, remove toxins and cleanse your skin. Enjoy breath-taking ocean views while the heat works its magic.

Step 4: Refresh in a cold fog-mist

Next, balance the heat from the sauna by stepping slowly through the cold fog-mist space. Take a deep breath here and refresh your senses! The cold mist rejuvenates the skin and helps prepare you for what comes next.

Step 5: The Sky Body Scrub

It’s time for re-invigoration. By applying the signature Sky Body Scrub, your skin will be exfoliated and glowing. The highlight of The Ritual.

Step 6: Steam room

With your skin tingling from the Sky Body Scrub, steam will once more open your skin. Here, The Ritual's key therapeutic elements are absorbed and the hydrating benefits of the Sky Body Scrub maximised.

Step 7: Shower and relax in the lagoon

Finally, rinse off the scrub in the shower. Then, step back into the warm geothermal lagoon. Lean back, close your eyes, breathe deeply, feel the results and enjoy the moment! Let all the benefits of this unique journey sink in. When you're ready, head to the Lagoon Bar for a refreshment.

These seven steps, taken in sequence and at a slow pace, can lead to deep relaxation and wellbeing. As Icelanders have done for centuries, discover the power of tradition and be inspired by these incredible surroundings.

We will then transfer you back to your hotel for your last night before picking you up the following day to take you to the airport and your flight back to the UK.

Prices are based on 2 sharing and are based on London departures but we can offer this tour from the regional airports that serve Iceland. We can also offer this deal staying in your hotel of choice and upgrade to a 4* or we can offer apartments if you prefer. Please enquire.
