Hotel Búðir is set in one of the most beautiful places in Iceland, just a couple of hours drive from Reykjavik. In a remote area, the hotel is set on a beach on the edge of a lava field near the Snaefellsnes glacier, and offers an intimate, family-run atmosphere, great service and a renowned restaurant.

The hotel takes its name from the nearby Budir estuary and the closest town is Ólafsvík, around 12 miles away, and has a supermarket and petrol station plus a couple of restaurants and boat tours for whale and puffin spotting tours sail from here.

The remote location away from the lights of a town or city makes it ideal in the winter months to see the Northern Lights on a clear night. And if they do show up there is a Northern Lights wake up call service so you don’t miss the show.

The food in Hotel Búðir has for long been one of the hotel’s main attractions. The restaurant is renowned for its unique fresh and local gourmet fish and lamb dishes, original starters and heavenly desserts. The menu is seasonal and takes advantage of fresh local produce trom neighbouring villages such as Stykkisholmur, Olafsvik and Borgarnes. The dining room is in an incomparable setting with the extraordinary scenery of the Snæfellsjökull glacier as a backdrop.

Breakfast is a buffet spread of warm dishes such as scrambled eggs, sausages, and bacon (all sourced from Iceland), plus freshly baked breads, Icelandic cheeses and ham, cereals and porridge.

The bar overlooks the long sandy beaches and the mountains in the east, you can enjoy a glass of prestige champagne or one from the largest selection of whisky in Iceland.  You can find wines, liquors and spirits from all over the world at the bar. The hotel has a small shop and a lounge area with a telescope.

There are 28 rooms in the hotel and each room offers a view of the magnificent landscape surrounding the hotel such as the Snaefellsjökull glacier, the sea, the mountains or the extensive lava field. All rooms come equipped with TV, DVD-player, phone, Wi-Fi and hair dryer.
