The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland is an award-winning luxury resort encompassing a 62-suite hotel, a subterranean spa, Michelin-recommended dining, and a private lagoon sourced from the same healing waters as the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon has drawn visitors to Iceland for many years and is a a thermal pool, fringed by moss-covered lava fields. The hotel itself stands amidst of sprawling lava fields and beside the shimmering Blue Lagoon. The resort’s isolation means on a clear winters night Northern Lights sightings are possible. The retreat is located a 45-minute drive from the capital Reykjavik and 25 minutes from the airport.

The resort’s star amenity is the subterranean spa, a world class wellness facility with multiple relaxation zones, a chamber offering the Blue Lagoon’s hammam-like cleansing ritual and access to an enclosed, private section of the lagoon. There is also an in-water massage area, a cold well, lava walled steam room and a sauna.

There is also a small library, basic gym and a yoga studio with complimentary 9am classes.  Guests can also join complimentary hikes of the 240 metre-high Þorbjörn hill each afternoon.

The Lava restaurant in the main Blue Lagoon site, serves ambitious Icelandic dishes and in the retreat, modern-Icelandic dishes and well-chosen wines are offered at the elegant fine-dining restaurant Moss. The Buffet breakfast featuring staples such as skyr with berries, and cured salmon, are offered in the lobby area alongside a simple à la carte menu. In the afternoon, a complimentary afternoon tea is served.

Junior Suites have free Wi-Fi throughout, an In rooms tablet, Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speaker,  minibar, Illy coffee machine, tea-making kit, free bottled water, underfloor heating and Blue Lagoon Iceland bath and skincare products. All of the Junior Suites have wooden panelling, floor-to-ceiling windows and a freestanding bathtub in the room.
