This family run hotel is located in a fairly remote area of the North of Iceland in the town of Siglufjörður, which was once a major fishing port known as the Herring capital of the world. Offering peace and quiet this unpretentious hotel stands on a small marina surround by dramatic landscapes.

Today Siglufjörður has a local brewery to explore, a chocolate shop and you can learn about the history of the town in the Herring museum, however it is the surrounding scenery, which is the main attraction with Fjords, lava fields and mountains making the area ideal for hiking, cycling and skiing.

The Sunna restaurant is adjoined to the Lobby bar and serves traditional Icelandic cuisine such as lamb and fresh fish from the harbour. There is also a charming lounge with a fire and selection of board games. The hotel also runs Hannes Boy bistro which located in the marina village and is a relaxed, family-friendly spot with a casual menu of seafood and brick-oven pizzas. Kaffi Rauðka opposite is a café with coffee, cakes and snacks, which opens in the summer months.

The hotel’s breakfast buffet has freshly baked breads and pastries, eggs with bacon, beans and sausages, and fruits with traditional Icelandic yogurt, Skyr. Room service is also available upon request.

Guests have use of a wonderful hot tub, which is built into a platform in the marina and a sauna, which have amazing views of the Fjord and the mountains.

We suggest you book an overnight stay in Reykjavik on arrival and then you can set off the following morning and take your time exploring the wonderful West Coast on the way to the hotel.
