There are plenty of things to do in the Dalvík area, in the area it is perfect to go for a hike, horseback ride, ski touring trip, whale watching or just relax at our geothermal pool or hot tubs at Hauganes. Whale watching from the Dalvík area is of course unique, the two companies that operate whale watching have 99% sighting rate in their tours. The mountains around Dalvík are perfect for hiking and around Dalvík there are multiple hiking routes. The ferry to Grímsey Island leaves from Dalvik 5 days a week, the Arctic Circle boundary runs through the island so it is possible to cross the Arctic Circle and in Grímsey it is also possible to go puffin watching and the island has the biggest population of the puffins in Iceland. Fishing for the arctic char or sea trout is a really popular sport here in Iceland. Next to Dalvík is a great river and a beautiful lake where it is possible to fish.
