The next day you will go on an amazing day tour takes you around the Golden Circle to see three of Iceland’s highlights Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir geothermal area and Thingvellir National Park.

Þingvellir National Park

Located on the northern shores of Þingvallavatn, Iceland's largest lake, Þingvellir is the national pride of Iceland and our first National Park. It is, for one, a key location in Icelandic history as the oldest existing parliament in the world first assembled there in 930 AD. For this reason, Þingvellir has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is, therefore, a protected national park due to its unique geology and natural features. From the viewing area the Almannagjá canyon between two tectonic plates can be seen, a visual representation of continental drift.

Geysir Hot Springs

A favourite stop along the Golden Circle is the highly active Geysir Hot Spring Area with boiling mud pits and the lively Strokkur which spouts water 30 meters into the air every few minutes. The area became active more than 1000 years ago and comprises more than a dozen hot spring holes. Although one can only see steam emerging from the surface of Geysir these days, its name was adopted to represent spouting hot springs all over the world. Along the tour, the newly opened Geysir Center offers guests a chance to use the restroom and to catch some refreshments as well as lunch.

Gullfoss Waterfall

As one of the most popular attractions in all of Iceland, Gullfoss is a waterfall located in the Canyon of the Hvítá River in the southwest of the country. The beautiful Hvítá river rushes southward in three steps into a narrow canyon with a breath-taking roar and grandeur. Furthermore, on clear days the magnificent Langjökull glacier, Iceland's second largest glacier, can be seen in the distance.

We then head to soak in the waters of the Blue Lagoon, one of the wonders of the world. The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland's most famous tourist attractions and considered by many to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as well as an unmissable part of any visit to Iceland.

The Blue Lagoon is surrounded by a mossy lava field, offering incredible scenery, with state of the art facilities, a unique atmosphere and silica masks and water that make your skin extra firm, yet incredibly soft! For these reasons and many more, visitors from all over the world visit the Blue Lagoon daily, and many return here again and again.

For the Blue Lagoon you have the Comfort Package and you will receive entrance to the Blue Lagoon, silica mud mask, use of a towel, and a drink of your choice.

After having enjoyed all that the Blue Lagoon has to offer, you return to Reykjavík on one of the new and comfortable coaches, offering you free Wi-Fi.

The next morning we depart Reykjavik and head east into the highlands for a 3 day guided hiking tour with two nights stay in the spectacular highlands.

This tour includes three fabulous days of trekking. Hike by the breathtakingly beautiful Frostastaðavatn Lake and visit Ljótipollur, an incredibly beautiful red volcano crater filled with bright-blue water. The name Ljótipollur means úgly pool’, so it seems that whoever named it had a sense of humor! See the stunning volcano, Mount Brennisteinsalda, often said to be the most colourful mountain in Iceland, close to the base of this mountain you will see surreal clouds of steam wafting from the geothermal vents.

On this trip, you also get the chance to reach the summit of Suðuhámur, another colourful and stunning rhyolite mountain. You will be amazed by the stark beauty of the Vondugil Canyon at the edge of the Laugahraun lava field. Get grandstand views over the Landmannalaugar geothermal area from the top of the Bláhnúkur peak. Bláhnúkur means ´the Blue Peak’, this blue-greenish volcano mountain was formed around 60,000 years ago.

Your days of hiking are rewarded with stupendous views and evenings spent in an amazing highland location. There is nothing more relaxing or rejuvenating than bathing in a hot spring pool surrounded by blue, green, mellow caramel and even red-tinged peaks, as soft sulphur-scented steam drifts around you.

Our Three Day Trekking Trip to one of the most geothermally active areas in Iceland is perfect for avid hikers and outdoors enthusiasts. Landmannalaugar is the official starting point for the famous Laugavegur Trek, ranked as a world top 20 hike by National Geographic Magazine.

After your 3 days in Landmannalaugar we head back to Reykjavik and check in to your hotel for your last night before being transferred back to the airport the following day and your return flight to the UK.

Prices are based on 2 sharing and are based on London departures but we can offer this tour from the regional airports that serve Iceland. We can also offer this deal staying in your hotel of choice and upgrade to a 4* or we can offer apartments if you prefer. Please enquire.
