Suggested Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ICELAND

Arrive in Iceland and pick up your hire car from the airport and head to the capital Reykjavik. If time allows, go for an exploration walk around Reykjavík before spending the night in a luxury 4* hotel.

Day 2: WHALE FJORD, SAGA VALLEY & KRAUMA SPA

Leaving Reykjavik after breakfast, explore the scenic Whale fjord and the valley of Borgarfjörður. Stop at Europe´s most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver then to Krauma Spa where the hot water originates in Europe’s most powerful hot spring Deildartunguhver, at a temperature of 100°C (212°F). To achieve the perfect bathing temperature they mix the hot water with cold glacial water from Rauðsgil.

Krauma offers five relaxing natural geothermal baths, a cold tub to get your blood circulation going, two calming saunas and a relaxation room where you can rest by the fireplace while listening to soothing music. Once you’ve enjoyed your time at the relaxing spa head to your hotel for two nights at the 4* Husafell Hotel. With an average of three sightings per week during winter, Húsafell is one of Iceland’s best spots for watching the Northern Lights. The high snowy domes of nearby Langjökull glacier ensure cold, crisp, cloudless skies - perfect weather conditions for Aurora Borealis.

Nestled between a glacier and a lava field, Húsafell is a natural playground where you can experience all the fire-and-ice adventures Iceland has to offer. Challenge yourself against nature’s mighty forces, or spend quality time relaxing with the family – the inspiration is all yours. Benefit from the bounty of geothermal energy by soaking in wonderfully hot water. This long-held Icelandic tradition will leave you feeling fresh and invigorated. Guests at the hotel get free admission to the baths. The geothermal baths were first built in 1965, but have undergone huge improvements since then. There are two pools, two hot tubs, and a waterslide.

Day 3: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE & FONTANA WELLNESS SPA

Make an early start after breakfast and head for the Golden Circle; pay a visit to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site where not only is the scenary stunning but you can walk between continents where the tectonic plates are being pulled part. Then head off to visit the erupting geysers in the great Geysir hot spring area where the lively Strokkur spouts water 30 meters into the air every few minutes and finally visit one of the most popular attractions in all of Iceland, Gullfoss is a waterfall located in the Canyon of the Hvítá River in the southwest of the country. The beautiful Hvítá river rushes southward in three steps into a narrow canyon with a breath-taking roar and grandeur.

Then drive to the Fontana Spa located at Laugarvatn, take advantage of the panoramic views while enjoying the natural saunas and bathing in the soothing warm pools of varying temperatures. In the saunas, hearing the boiling water bubble and gurgle below the floors is surreal - you can literally feel the geothermal power underneath the earth.

Day 4: BORGARNES, REYKJANES AND THE BLUE LAGOON

After breakfast head back towards Reykjavik but first there is plenty to pack in and see. Make a pit stop in Borgarnes and visit the popular Saga Settlement Centre before heading down the spectacular West Coast until you reach the Reykjanes peninsula and the famous Blue Lagoon. Soak up in the warm and comfortable Blue Lagoon, one of the wonders of the world. The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland's most famous tourist attractions and considered by many to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as well as an unmissable part of any visit to Iceland. The Blue Lagoon is surrounded by a mossy lava field, offering incredible scenery, with state of the art facilities, a unique atmosphere and silica masks and water that make your skin extra firm, yet incredibly soft! For these reasons and many more, visitors from all over the world visit the Blue Lagoon daily, and many return here again and again.
