THE DEAL

On arrival at Keflavik International airport you will meet our representatives and they will transfer you to your hotel in the Capital Reykjavik. Your 3* Hotel will be within easy reach of the cities attractions and have facilities like Satellite TV. All rooms have a private en-suite bathroom and breakfast is served each morning. After check-in the rest of the day is free for you to start discover beautiful Reykjavik.

For many, seeing the Northern Lights is the reason to travel to our northern island in winter. They are mesmerising, and a sight that will not be forgotten. It is simple, nothing says “Icelandic Winter” like the idea of hunting for the Aurora Borealis. Created by solar storms originating from the sun, the Northern Lights need clear winter skies to be seen.

Our expert operational team has decades of experience analysing weather patterns. We will review, each and everyday, the cloud forecast and the northern lights forecast in detail. We will not venture out in search of them unless we think we have good chance. This means we have a high success ratio.

All our northern lights tours are guided by one of our specially trained northern lights guides, they are both knowledgeable and helpful and will even give you tips on how to take photos of the night sky and of aurora. We offer free use of camera tripods (a must to take northern lights photos), we only have a few so if you own a tripod be sure to bring it along.

Every guide brings along an astronomical telescope for you to try out. Look for the stars and astronomy signs in sky using the provided star map and see the space that surrounds in a new way.

Depending on your flight arrival time, we will book your Northern Lights on your first nights. If that’s not possible then we will book it for your second night.

The next morning be prepared for a monster adventure. We leave early from Reykjavík and catch the crisp morning air & before you know it you suddenly find yourself standing on top of an Ice Cap and about to begin your descent down below the surface to explore what lies beneath. In order to get there we step aboard a huge specially-modified truck which was a NATO missile launcher in a previous life and drive up the glacier to the cave. The Ice Tunnel or Ice Cave is a man made glacier cave high up in a remote area in the highlands of Iceland.

Your guide will explain the formations and movements of glaciers along with how they are constantly changing as they take you on a magical journey deep within the glacier. You get to see stunning blue glacier ice and wonderful glacier formations. The temperature inside the glacier is usually around zero degrees Celsius or 32 Fahrenheit and until very recently what lay beneath the surface of Langjökull was a mystery.

After our ice cave tour we get back on board the glacier truck and head straight to Iceland's mightiest lava cave, Víðgelmir. Just shy of 5,250 feet, Víðgelmir is one of the largest lava caves in the world. Your guide will show and explain to you the features of the cave, including its colours, lava and ice formations, and stalactites and stalagmites. This tour is very family friendly, thanks to our all new signature walkway and feature lighting. Afterwards we take a scenic route back to Reykjavík.

On Day 3 we recommend a lie in and a leisurely breakfast as the day is yours to enjoy. Maybe use your time to explore Reykjavik or book a trip out into the bay to look for the Whales.

Then day 4 we ramp it back up again with the perfect tour for those seeking a bit extra thrill while ticking off some of Iceland’s must sees. The tour offers a fun, scenic and comfortably challenging snowmobiling ride. It is a great way to explore and experiencing the wilderness and get in touch with the glacier. The tour starts with a drive through the Hellisheiði mountain pass bringing you through moss covered lava fields and past geothermal springs down to farmland along the beautiful southern coastline. The first stop on the way starts with a snowmobile ride to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, close to the volcano Katla caldera. The scenery there can be quite intense, with Eyjafjallajökull glacier watching over us from the west and the breath-taking view over the South coast of Iceland.

Once you arrive at Solheimajökull the Team will bring you to their base, where you will get all the necessary gear needed for snowmobiling on the glacier. After a short briefing, you ride up to the mountain with the glacier truck to the locations of the snowmobiles and the base of Mýrdalsjökull. You will have plenty of opportunity to photograph and film scenery and the beautiful landscape.

Along the return trip to Reykjavik, we will stop at the powerful 65 meter tall Skógafoss Waterfall where a short walk up a flight of steps will reveal one of Iceland´s most scenic views of glaciers, volcanoes and black sandy beaches. With viewpoints both above and directly next to the waterfall, photographers will have plenty of chances to capture that unique shot.

The Seljalandsfoss waterfall is for many guests the highlight of this trip, as you can walk along and behind this waterfall offering a completely unique perspective; just be sure to bring a rain jacket! From here we will spend about 1.5hrs in the coach returning to Reykjavik.

The next day after check out from the hotel we transfer you back to the airport to catch your flight back to the UK.

Prices are based on 2 sharing and are based on London departures but we can offer this tour from the regional airports that serve Iceland. We can also offer this deal staying in your hotel of choice and upgrade to a 4* or we can offer apartments if you prefer. Please enquire.
