Northern Lights By Boat From Reykjavik
During the tour our expert guide will tell you all about the northern lights, the folklore and superstition, as well as explaining the underlying scientific facts that make this magical light show possible. The tour takes about 2 hours, departing from Reykjavík´s old harbour in our new, fast and luxurious boat Rósin, viewing the beautiful coastline of the capital on the way out to search for the lights. In only 15-30 minutes we will be on a prime location away from the city lights, perfect for viewing the auroras.
We provide complimentary hot beverages on the trip; coffee, tea or hot chocolate as well as special Icelandic treats. Also included are warm overalls since it does get chilly in the winter and usually much of the time is spent outside gazing at the night sky. We have a cosy and warm seating area inside the boat and we are dedicated to making the trip an enjoyable experience for everyone, therefore it is subject to the right weather conditions.
When the northern lights forecast looks good - but it is too windy to go out on sea - we will still take our customers out for a northern lights tour on a bus and they will also get to go out on the boat as well next available day.
